Meet the MemberHub Summer Intern

Posted by Matt Harrell on June 30th, 2011 | 4 Comments »

I just wanted to share with everyone a little about our summer intern. Her name is Caroline. We think she’s great and here’s why.
  • Caroline wants to learn more about social media marketing (so do we)
  • She’s already strategizing a really cool social media marketing idea for August
  • She’s spending her summer days with us; not hanging at the pool
  • Caroline is a volleyball super star for Meredith College
  • One of her passions is teaching the sport and manners to younger women
  • She has great taste in music
  • Her affinity for tacos and spicy food is comparable to the rest of the team (very important stuff)

We’d like to thank Ken Tate for connecting us with Caroline and for being a awesome customer, an awesome leader at NC State and a trusted companion.

You can email Caroline at caroline.cobb@memberhub.com and while you’re at it..help her respect the Twitter and follow her at http://twitter.com/cobbcaro (those college kids are so stuck on Facebook ;-P).

Why Parents and Teachers Should use Private Collaboration Tools

Busy Mom with Cellphone
As parents of young children my wife and I are in the midst of learning the details of early childhood education. Both of our children attend a preschool at a local church and we’ve also decided to stick with the Wake County Public School system for Elementary school (my wife and I both grew up in this system after all). One thing is becoming clear, parents have a huge impact on the effectiveness of a particular school and private collaboration tools can help make communication easy. Read more…

Track Custom Information From Your Members

Posted by Matt Harrell on May 2nd, 2011 | No Comments »

We’ve made a long overdue enhancement to our Custom Fields feature. Administrators can create custom data fields on profile records in their organization and now…they can have their members fill out that information themselves when they update their profile.

Anytime a person joins your MemberHub portal for the fist time, they are prompted to complete their profile. Up to this point, it’s been the basic correspondence information like address and phone numbers. But now administrators can gather whatever information they desire by prompting people to fill out this data for them. You can create Date fields, Checkboxes, Dropdown, Numeric, Multiline and Text boxes to gather additional information. Of course members can always access their Profile and update that information anytime they want.

Make It Simple for People To Serve (Member Engagement Idea 4 of 10)

Volunteer Sign-Up SheetYou need your members, volunteers and constituents to serve, right? The easier you make it for them to find information about an event and signup the more likely it will be to get them engaged and giving back. It might be a large event where you need several volunteers or it may just be a snack party where you need parents to signup to bring something. People want to serve…but many times, they just don’t know how to signup. So make it simple! Read more…

MemberHub is Alive!

Amazon is down but MemberHub is up! Well, the east-coast server of Amazon EC2 is still down. But we have succesfully moved MemberHub.com over to their west coast server.

We recommend that when you access MemberHub again to logout and then back in to clear out your browser’s cache.

Thank you to all the users we spoke that were so full of grace and understanding.

Have a blessed Easter weekend!

As I write this post, MemberHub.com is experiencing the largest outage since we launched our service. Yet we are not alone. Sites such Foursquare, Quora, Reddit, Hootsuite, Flavors.me and others have experienced downtime and felt the the effects of Amazon’s current outage. In fact, well over 100 sites have been affected.

To help our users understand what’s going on I’ve put some notes together. Read more…

New Feature: Send Event Reminders To Select Members

Posted by Matt Harrell on March 11th, 2011 | 7 Comments »

Hey there! We wanted to announce a new feature that I know many of you will be very exited about. It’s going to help organizers communicate about service opportunities and upcoming events MUCH more relevant and organized.

As you likely know, whenever an event is added to a calendar, the event can be scheduled to automatically send a reminder to ALL the members of the group. One reminder can be delivered via email and a separate reminder can be delivered via text message….and this reminder goes to ALL members in the hub.

However, now when you click one of these boxes to send a reminder you will see a new option to send the reminders to only select members in the hub. Simply check the box beside each member’s name and only those members will receive the scheduled reminders. Read more…
